Olivia Newton-John
Olivia Newton-John came to us from Barrow County Animal Control after being there for 8 ½ months. we took her in and vowed to give her the best care and comfort we could for as long as she had. Olivia had awful ear infections with double hematomas, skin infected so badly she scratched incessantly, and last but by no means least, a massive tumor in her stomach that was resting on her spleen. Based on her X-rays of the tumor, we thought may have a few days, or few weeks at best with her. But in true Frankie and Andy’s Place fashion, we have witnessed a small miracle. She's improved day by day, her skin issues have cleared up for the most part and she is bouncing around, happy as a clam and forcing every single visitor to the cabin to fall head over heels in love with her. She is happiest rolling around in the yard or going for walks on the trail. This girl is unstoppable! |
Richard Gere
Richard Gere is a salt and pepper haired lothario who came to us from Releash Atlanta. This little guy has degenerative heart disease, which unfortunately didn’t put him at the top of the list of prospective adopters. However for us, we took one look at this scrumptious-ness and jumped at the chance! Richard is the sweetest little guy who loves to keep watch on the cabin coming and goings...one of his favorite spots is the back of the sofa looking out the window, making sure none of us can leave without him pulling at our heart strings! He is a heart melter for sure. He is very vocal and will sing you a tune at dinner time until he gets his helping! |
Natalie Portman
Natalie Portman is a 14 year old Shepherd mix who was found a stray in Atlanta in Dekalb County. We received this raven beauty from Lifeline Animal Services. She was heartworm positive, blind in one eye and had skin issues. She was quite timid at first, but now loves to follow you around, nudge for pets and likes to keep watch over the cabin perched on her favorite spot on the large ottoman. She is laid back and as precious as they come! |
Jennifer Lopez
J-Lo is our beautiful senior Bichon who came to us from Releash Atlanta. J-Lo has been through a lot emotionally and is still adjusting to her new life at Frankie and Andy’s Place. Just as many of us humans need time to mourn after a loss of a loved one and try to adjust to life without that person and having to learn a new “normal”...dogs are the same way. J-Lo was given to Releash Atlanta after her beloved owner passed away. J-Lo is as precious as she can be and likes to have someone sit with her and love on her. Just like many of our seniors, her quiet, calm demeanor quickly goes by the wayside when it’s snack or mealtime! Out comes this vocal (yes folks, she barks!) energetic, push to the front of the line, “me me me!” girl who has no shame in speaking up for what she wants! Her little wobbly back legs all the sudden aren’t an issue. J-Lo is such a delightful addition to our family! |
Boris Karloff
Boris is a 15 year old stud muffin! The cabin Romeo...everyone loves Boris and Boris loves everyone. A crazy mix of Shar-pei, boxer and Pitt bull, Boris was tied up outside all of his life until he got loose and was picked up at animal control. In dreadful condition when they found him, this mild mannered gentleman was extremely sweet from the get go, and was just grateful to be inside in the warm. He was diagnosed with testicular cancer 18 months ago, along with a hefty heart murmur and came to us as a hospice care case, yet this old boy still keeps doing his thing and making life sweet at the cabin every day regardless. Boris is a little unsteady on his feet at times, and his gait can be awkward, however he is very cuddly and adores to be petted. Boris enjoys his visits to the schools, basking in the sun, being the project manager of all the work on the new cabin (he keeps a very watchful eye), loves to dig in the dirt and discover the latest toy rock, but most of all, Boris loves attention from his human and dog friends! |
Alan Alda
Alan is a Dachshund, around 13 years of age, who was meant to be with us at Frankie and Andy’s Place! When Penny shared his welcome post, he had quite the army rallying for his survival and working to do everything they could to get him to us and boy are we so glad. He adds his own little spunk and personality to the cabin crew! He has severe dental issues however, it doesn’t stop our sweet old man! He is definitely a little Casanova. He had his first love affair with Frannie, but he has no problem sharing the love…he even had the hots for our only senior dog volunteer, Lady (who belongs to our volunteer coordinator, Jenn) and couldn’t keep his paws off her! He is a snuggle bug with all the volunteers. Mr. Alan loves to explore the outdoors and will sunbath on the deck all day if you’d let him! This boy is funny, sweet and steals the hearts of all the people at the senior center. We hear he also has a thing for riding shotgun in a convertible. He has a zest for life not to mention all the ladies! |
Helena Bonham Carter
Helena, a shepherd mix, came to us in July with her brother, George Clooney. They had been given up by their owner to the vet who “determined” it was time to put them to sleep because they were old. Thankfully the vet did not listen! In a matter of a couple short months, Helena’s home and family changed and just recently, she lost her beloved brother, George. We were so worried about how Helena would handle all of this in such a short period of time. She’s been given a lot of extra attention, care and even had her first trip to the Adult Day Center this week. She did amazing and brought many smiles to so many people. She’s even stepped up to the plate as “mother hen” to our little Gilly and has been sharing Gilly’s bed and sleeping with her. This beautiful girl who has been through so much is just happy to spread her love and joy to others and her sweet gentle personality still shines through so brightly. She is a true rockstar. We know George is watching and is so proud of his sister. |
Snazzy
Snazzy is 12 years old and has been at the Ranch for 3 years as a foster, until we decided to have her live out her years at FAAP as new female in charge after we lost Lil Kim. Snazzy is tactile, friendly, loves to snuggle and is MAD about belly rubs…..if you have all day to give them, she will stay there all day asking for one, and paw you for more, more, more! Snazzy has some severe arthritis in her shoulders and so be careful when you reach down to pet her and try to steer clear of her shoulder areas. She is wonderful with the other dogs and is very good at keeping the peace up at the cabin. |
Cher
Cher is a 14 year old Poodle mix who when found at a local shelter was at deaths door. When examined by a vet after being rescued, it was said that if she made it through the next 24 hours it would be a miracle. She had a horrible case of pneumonia, was severely dehydrated and had dreadful teeth. This tiny girl had more mountains to climb than it seemed she could handle. With love, proper care and patience from many angels involved, this little girl blossomed and is now living the life at Frankie and Andy’s Place. Little Cher is a beautiful girl, only five pounds but long legs like a giraffe, and a temper so sweet you just want to snuggle her. She is so soft and often when we see her walking/running around in the yard we just look at her and wonder if she is part lamb! She is laid back and generally calm, but still loves to play like a puppy if you get her riled up! And this petite fluff transforms in to a vulture if it is meal time…no timidness here! She gives the best little kisses. |
David Beckham
A Whippet mix approximately 14 years old, our Beckham was found in a van that was pulled over by the police for a traffic violation. Inside were 19 dogs, a couple of dead dogs and cats, birds, some alive some dead. Can you imagine the horror when that police officer looked inside that vehicle? Thankfully the police officer did the right thing and took the animals, giving them a chance at a better life. He was at Peach County Animal Rescue for a good while. Even with their help, he was still severely undernourished and teeth were in horrible condition when we got him (can you imagine how bad it had to be before he was taken by the police?) Well, fast forward to today and he has really come out of his shell! We don’t call him a hot mess for nothing! Take your eyes off of him for a minute and you may find him trying to get in the trash (in a millisecond of turning your back!), jumping up on a crate, or as we saw yesterday, playing hide and seek in a storage bench! Oh how we love you, Beckham and the humor and life you bring to the cabin! Due to being starved for so long, he can be very food sensitive and cause a riff with the other dogs. Because of that, we have to feed him his food and treats on his own. But this guy is a lovebug and is happy sitting on the couch and snuggling next to you. |
Tallulah Bankhead
Tallulah is an 11-12 year old terrier mix who was turned in to Barrow County Animal Control with her two brothers when the man of the house was sent to prison. Their mama decided she didn't want to take care of them so she turned them over to animal control. Tallulah came to us with a mammary gland tumor which we had removed, and from the get go reveled in cabin life! She is sweet, friendly, very energetic and wonderful with the young and old alike. With Tallulah, age is just a number because this girl has the energy of a 3 year old (Tallulah, are you fooling us with your gray hairs?) She loves to be petted, will snuggle next to you and be your best friend for as long as you want her to! |
Sally Field
Sally is an 18 year old dachshund mix who was given up by her elderly mom when her own health deteriorated. She could not walk Sally downstairs to take her to use the restroom or go on walks, so poor Sally did not leave her upstairs home very often to get outside in the fresh air. Sally is shy, and can seem stand-offish, but in truth she is learning at a very old age how to live among other dogs, which she had never done before. She has had some dental issues which has left her sensitive around her mouth, despite having had dental surgery. She does not like to be picked up at all. Sally loves to be petted along her back but not her head. You can generally find Sally on a cozy bed, observing her cabin mates. She is very quiet and moves quite slowly, unless she is wanting to steal Frannie's bed, then she has no problem coming out of her shell! Sally loves treat time and dinner time and usually starts her drooling engines well before! She is such a sweet soul. |
Carol Burnett
Carol is a 13 year old min pin mix that was handed over to a veterinarian by her owner. With a history of seizures and a badly broken front leg that had never been fixed, this little girls future was looking bleak until the veterinarian decided to foster her and find her a forever home. She's another 'talent signing' from Hickory Level Hound Rescue, who thought that she'd be perfect for our program, seeing as she was already doing visits to assisted living facilities with her foster mum. She loves to be touched, loves to be smooched and is just plain happy to be here. She’s as old as Methuselah and has a bum right front leg and pretty much walks like a tripod, but this girl is high on life and has a very high purpose here in her new home. Carol is often the first to greet any visitors to the cabin and her positive attitude is contagious - we can’t imagine how we got along without her. |
Gerry Resciniti
Gerry came to us from the Society of Humane Friends. She is around 12 years old with a little arthritis but she is personality plus, gorgeous to look at and the kindest, sweetest nature you can imagine! Gerry is named after one of our night crew ladies, who came in to love on the dogs and take care of their needs before bed with snacks, pee and potty routine and meds when necessary. She was a kind and wonderful woman with a strong sense of honor and commitment, never failing to provide our seniors with everything they needed despite her serious health issues. Gerry passed away in March of this year after losing her battle with cancer. Her incredible family and friends know all too well how much of Gerry’s heart beat for these senior dogs, naming one after her, especially one so beautiful and perfect as this, was oh so right. |
Meryl Streep
This incredible new therapy dog talent came to us from our friends at Peach County Animal Rescue, who had her for a few months and were perplexed that no one was stepping up for her. Almost blind, hard of hearing, she has a bent and broken little body but the heart of a lion...and this miniature powerhouse is a whopping 16 years old! Meryl, with her funny, feisty nature but soft-as-a-rabbit fur is an awesome addition to our working dog pack at Frankie and Andy’s Place. |
Kiefer Sutherland
This sweet little poodle mix (maybe part lamb!) came to us from Society of Humane Friends. His previous name before coming to us was “Toothless”…can you guess why? This little guy may have no teeth and very little to no sight, but that doesn’t stop him! He loves meal time, exploring outside in the yard and napping next to his friends. He is a precious soul with a big personality! We are lucky to have him with us. |
Justin Timberlake
This sweet little 14 year old Yorkie mix came to us from Releash Atlanta and we’ve been smitten ever since. He had been kept in a bathroom for the last year, never seeing the light of day or feeling the sunshine on his poor frail little body. His hair was coming out in clumps and his poor body was a mass of rashes and breakouts. He is the softest, most gentle little boy and just wants to be loved. He loves to watch everyone, being ever so observant of the hustle bustle around him. And when he’s ready, he will pop out of his bed and scurry around and find his way out to the sunshine. After being shut in a bathroom for a year, this little guy is soaking in all the sunshine and love he can get...and with all of us doting on him, he sure is getting plenty of it! JT, you are the perfect addition to our family! |
Lily Tomlin
Gerry came to us from the Society of Humane Friends. She is around 12 years old with a little arthritis but she is personality plus, gorgeous to look at and the kindest, sweetest nature you can imagine! Gerry is named after one of our night crew ladies, who came in to love on the dogs and take care of their needs before bed with snacks, pee and potty routine and meds when necessary. Her incredible family and friends know all too well how much of Gerry’s heart beat for these senior dogs, naming one after her, especially one so beautiful and perfect as this, was oh so right. |
Iain Glen
At 13, Iain Glen is no spring chicken but he is still strikingly handsome. Just look at those eyes! Our friends at Society of Humane Friends wanted us to have him because he has some health issues that would have made him difficult to adopt. Deaf, thyroid issues and with a heart murmur, Ian wouldn’t be a fit for just any home. But he is the perfect fit for us! He is kind, gentle and actually prefers to be around small dogs, especially his Dachshund best friend at the cabin, Alan. |
Owen Wilson
Silky terrier mix Wilson had been at Walton County Animal Control and was luckily pulled by Pup and Cat Co who just had to save his life. They named him Snowshoe and placed him in a foster home, where unfortunately a short while after, a family tragedy occurred, and he had to be re-homed immediately. Enter big hearted Juli, who is our weekday morning mama and ‘keeper of records’ for Frankie and Andy’s Place, who said “I got this!” Those three words saved his life because an almost blind, fully deaf dog with the most severe dental issues we have ever seen would not have made it back at the shelter. Shortly after he arrived at the cabin, Wilson had every single one of his teeth out in an emergency procedure at Gwinnett Animal Hospital, our partners in their health, and is now feeling much, much better. He’s very tactile, kind, loving and adores his cabin friends, and can sing the most beautiful tunes! We love him. |
Halle Berry
Halle came to us from our dear friends at Hickory Level Hound Rescue. This no-nonsense, “take no prisoners” kind of a girl is a fabulous little chihuahua with a healthy dose of ‘tude!’ Soft and snuggly with every human she meets, she just yearns to be picked up and loved on whenever you go past...and will tap on your leg to remind you that it’s your job to pet her! She is a favorite on the community visits and brings sunshine everywhere she goes! |
