Fabio
Fabio, an approximately 14 year old Chihuahua mix, was also found in the same van as his sidekick, David Beckham. Fabio is very independent and can be shy, so it takes a little while for him to warm up to people. His favorite spot is curled up napping under a blanket, which can sometimes cause the volunteers to go on a blanket search to find him! He is a handsome little guy with a set of ears that add to his charm. |
Betty White
A chihuahua around 13 years of age, Betty White quickly stole everyone’s hearts. She has the sweetest little face and fur soft as a cotton ball. You can’t help but want to snuggle her all the time! Her spunky personality is even sweeter. Betty loves to sit outside, sunbath and take in all the outside happenings. Betty White has some health issues. Her back legs are a little dodgy and wobbly, very limited eyesight, she’s had a tumor removed from her uterus and she also has a heart murmur. But this old girl is just perfect to us. She loves to be passed around and loved on, thrives on it, and was “acquired” to be the darling of the senior center scene and is adored by all! |
Alan Alda
Alan Alda is a Dachshund, around 13 years of age. He definitely adds his own little spunk and personality to the cabin crew. He has severe dental issues and suffers with quite a bit of mouth pain. However, it doesn’t stop our sweet old man! He is definitely a little Casanova. He had his first love affair with Frannie, but he has no problem sharing the love with any of the ladies! He is a snuggle bug with all the volunteers. Mr. Alan loves to explore the outdoors and will sunbath all day if you’d let him! This boy is funny, sweet and steals the hearts of all the people at the senior center. We hear he also has a thing for riding shotgun in a convertible. He has such a zest for life! |
Ethel Merman
Ethel came to us from Five Freedoms Farm in Loganville, where she had been available for adoption for a little while but no one had taken her. When we met this beautiful little kangaroo/Chihuahua/ ‘God-only-knows-what’ mix in person, we were smitten! That underbite had us at hello. She has had her fair share of health issues, including having had mammary tumors removed. Even after all that she has been through, this little girl is calm and sweet. She loves car rides and going for visits to the senior center with volunteer, Linda Wick. |
Helena Bonham Carter
George and Helena were an inseparable pair who came to us after being saved by an Atlanta veterinarian, who refused to put them down when their mom brought them in saying that at 14, they were “too old” and she wanted them to be put down. Heartbreaking, right? Well that cruel lady’s “rags” became our “riches.” Given a second chance at life, they were also given new names as all of our dogs do. These two are very classy and beautiful, just as their namesakes! They are so sweet, gentle and loving…and full of life! To think that they could have been put down just because of their age is appalling, but they are living the good life now! |
George Clooney

These two are very classy and beautiful, just as their namesakes! They are so sweet, gentle and loving…and full of life! To think that they could have been put down just because of their age is appalling, but they are living the good life now! Update: Sunday September 9th 2018 .... One of my favorite shows when I was younger was 'Touched by an Angel'. I cant tell you how much I enjoyed seeing Roma Downey and Della Reese, as they revealed their true nature, bathed in a brilliant white light, wings spread in a glory of magnificence. They would always explain to the humans before them that they were angels sent from God, to help heal and comfort and to show that God loves them. I always wished that I too, could be touched by an angel. Here at the cabin, my wish came true. George Clooney and his sister Helena Bonham Carter arrived at the cabin just a few short months ago. Cruelly tossed aside by a callous owner who took them to her veterinarians after 14 years of excellent service and loyalty, she told them that they must both be euthanized because they were too old. Thankfully, the doctor in question did not agree and got in touch with Orphan Annie rescue, who brought George and Helena to the cabin to live out their days in love and comfort. From the get-go, George had star quality. With his movie star good looks and a heart as big as a mountain, he quickly became the darling of the volunteers and a popular choice on the community visits. Whether kissing and playing with two year old babies, or providing a soft, doe eyed, adoring look to a senior citizen who just needed to be needed for a moment, George was all things to all people. He would sneak up on you when you weren't looking, and rest his head gently on your thigh, then gaze into your eyes in a heart stopping moment that you'd wish would never end. In that moment, the sky could fall and mountains could tumble, but you wouldn't notice....George was spellbinding. Simply spellbinding. A passionate gourmet, George decided quite soon after arriving at the cabin that the kitchen was his favorite spot and could always be found at the hours of eight am, twelve pm, five pm and nine thirty pm right outside the kitchen entrance, hovering expectantly with his sister Helena. None of us can remember giving them a Timex watch and a written meal schedule upon their arrival, but clearly someone did, for those two were regular as clockwork in their endeavors. A real sun worshipper, George loved to revel in a sunbeam on the back porch or to lie in the grass and stretch his entire body luxuriantly like a wild cat. And if some passer by decided they wanted to tickle his chops or give him a belly rub, well heck that was okay too! George, although deep thinking and quiet, lived in the moment. He took every opportunity for love, touch and tenderness. It was like he had determined that this was his best life and he was going to grab it and live, love and laugh up every second to the fullest. I believe as I sit and write this, that George knew it wouldn't last for long....... For you see, yesterday, George left us. Just over a week ago I asked for prayers as he was failing, and for a while it seemed like he was going to turn it around, but when he started to yelp in pain despite rather large doses of painkillers, we took him back to our vets at Gwinnett Animal Hospital, where they told us that that he had a volley ball sized tumor in his stomach. Surgery wasn't an option due to his hefty heart murmur, and due to the immense pain that he was in, it was decided that his time had come. His Aunt Kathy picked him up from the vets and took him straight to Wendy's where he gleefully devoured two cheeseburgers before returning to the cabin to be with his beloved new family. There, his Aunt Mandy played with him and sang to him almost all afternoon.... After dinner he got a little lethargic from the pain meds and so his special visitor Kathy W cuddled him, telling him how beautiful he was......later, Gerry, his night Momma, loved on him and told him it was okay to go, that she'd look out for Helena. George's body was ready, his heart just needed to be reassured...... George spent his final morning here on earth receiving love from a small group of his friends and family, who all took him aside to tell him how special he was and how much love he had brought into their lives. Then, as the breeze lightly rustled the leaves on the trees and the sunlight peeped through the branches, he laid his body down on a soft bed on the porch and just let it all go......... George closed his eyes, his family stroked his body and kissed his soft head, and all at once his pain was gone. His Canine family gave their approval, knowing that this was the right path for George. Some looked on in support, for others it was too painful....but all knew that it was his time and all understood that this was necessary. In 'Touched by an Angel', its always at the end of the show that the humans find out that Roma Downey and Della Reese are, in fact, messengers from God, sent down to earth to comfort the forlorn and the hopeless. At Frankie and Andys Place, we are the lucky ones, because we knew it from the minute he showed up at our gate. George, you were a dazzling white light in what is sometimes a dark world, and you shone that light wherever it was needed. Your soft countenance and gentle heart will be missed for ever, there will never be another like you. We will see you on the other side, sweet boy, but, for now, rest. Rest In Peace.” |
Ice T
Ice T is a 14 year old Chihuahua who weighing just five pounds, was found by Douglas County Animal Control with his frail little body caught in a drain, struggling and terrified. Without a timely call from a passerby, this dear old fella would have been dead shortly after. We know nothing about his past, but we are sure happy to have him. He is confident, easy going and loves to cuddle. As a matter of fact, he would be quite content to always be held! He quickly has turned into a favorite by the folks at the adult daycare center that we visit each week. |
Cher
Cher is a 14 year old Poodle mix who when found at a local shelter was at deaths door. When examined by a vet after being rescued, it was said that if she made it through the next 24 hours it would be a miracle. She had a horrible case of pneumonia, was severely dehydrated and had dreadful teeth. This tiny girl had more mountains to climb than it seemed she could handle. With love, proper care and patience from many angels involved, this little girl blossomed and is now living the life at Frankie and Andy’s Place. Little Cher is a beautiful girl, only five pounds but long legs like a giraffe, and a temper so sweet you just want to snuggle her. She is so soft and often when we see her walking/running around in the yard we just look at her and wonder if she is part lamb! She is laid back and generally calm, but still loves to play like a puppy if you get her riled up! And this petite fluff transforms in to a vulture if it is meal time…no timidness here! She gives the best little kisses. |
David Beckham
David Beckham is a Whippet mix approximately 14 years old, our Beckham was found in a van that was pulled over by the police for a traffic violation. When the police officer looked in the vehicle, he found 19 animals, many dead. The police officer thankfully confiscated the animals. He was still severely undernourished and teeth were in horrible condition. Beckham is our “hot mess”…take your eyes off of him for a minute and you may find him trying to get in the trash, jumping up on a crate, or playing hide and seek in a storage bench! Due to being starved for so long, he can be very food sensitive and cause a riff with the other dogs. Because of that, we have to feed him his food and treats on his own. But this guy is a lovebug and is most happy sitting on the couch and snuggling next to you. |
Tallulah
Tallulah is an 11-12 year old terrier mix who was turned into Barrow County Animal Control with her two brothers when the man of the house was sent to prison. Their mama decided she didn’t want to take care of any of them so she turned them over to the county. Tallulah came to us with a mammary gland tumor which we had removed, and from the get go revelled in cabin life! She is sweet, friendly, very energetic and wonderful with young and old alike! She loves to be petted, will snuggle next to you and be your best friend for as long as you want her to! |
Gilda Radner
Gilda Radner is our one eyed wonder girl! This 15 year old Pekingese mix is a true trooper. She suffers from vestibular disease, a neurological condition that has her seeing the world upside down and tilts her head to one side. She recently had her eye removed due to an ulcer that would not heal. Despite this, Gilda is a very happy girl and just adores to be with Boris, her heart throb. She has only two teeth, although we have never actually seen them, so soft treats only. She snaps and whines if you pick her up but she just takes a little moment to adjust to being picked up, then she will settle into being loved and caressed. Gilda adores to be brushed, especially when you brush her fur the wrong way, and likes to have her ears played with. |
Frannie Drescher
Frannie Drescher is a beautiful terrier mix of around 10 or 11 years of age. She suffered a stroke and lost the use of her back legs for quite some time. Through being at the cabin and needing to use her legs to get around, she has regained around 20% use of her legs, and we ask that you allow her to move herself as much as possible as this stimulates the muscles. She also has a kidney issue which can make her abdomen sore at times. She does not enjoy being picked up unless her entire body is supported due to the fact that she has a very long body, and her kidneys and back legs are painful at times. |
Snazzy
Snazzy is 12 years old and has been at the Ranch for 3 years as a foster, until we decided to have her live out her years at FAAP as new female in charge after we lost Lil Kim. Snazzy is tactile, friendly, loves to snuggle and is MAD about belly rubs…..if you have all day to give them, she will stay there all day asking for one, and paw you for more, more, more! Snazzy has some severe arthritis in her shoulders and so be careful when you reach down to pet her and try to steer clear of her shoulder areas. She is wonderful with the other dogs and is very good at keeping the peace up at the cabin. |
Sally Field
Sally Field is an 18 year old dachshund mix who was given up by her elderly mum when her own health deteriorated. She could not walk Sally downstairs to pee and poop, so poor Sally did not leave her upstairs home for very long periods to get outside in the fresh air. Sally is shy, and can seem stand-offish, but in truth she is learning at a very old age how to live amongst other dogs, which she never did before. She has had some dental issues which leave her sensitive around her mouth, even though she has had dental surgery, and does not like to be picked up at all. Sally likes to be petted along her back but please leave her head alone!! |
Naomi Watts
Naomi Watts is a 14 year old chihuahua who was turned into Carrollton animal control along with her siblings when the owners decided they were all ‘too old to be messing with’. She’s sweet as pie, loves to lick you to death, and her greatest moment is when she’s being cuddled. Her tongue pokes out because she has so few teeth but she’s feisty and funny, and keeps an iron grip on the cabin goings-on……she needs careful handling due to her advanced age and brittle bones. |
Fiona
Beautiful beagle Fiona is 14 years old and was surrendered to Barrow county animal control last year because of her appalling skin issues, which her owners said they could not afford to fix. When we offered to pay for her medication so that she could stay in the home with her family, and shelter staff explained that she would not escape euthanasia at the kill center due to her age and condition, her parents said ‘that’s okay, you guys keep her!’ Their loss is our gain, as she is a wonderful addition to the cabin. A very self sufficient dog, with a huge bark at mealtime, Fiona is at her happiest scavenging for scraps or finding a comfy spot in the couch where she can go to sleep…with her eyes open! This can be a little disconcerting but it’s how she is and we love her regardless. |
JuJu
Boston terrier Juju is around 14 years old and was surrendered to Barrow county animal last year by her parents after she urinated on the rug and ‘kept getting in the way’. She is almost blind and pretty much deaf, so she gets easily shocked when you try to pick her up as she is not expecting it. If you put some food in your hand and offer it to her, she will recognize your nearness and quickly get used to it, then you can hold her. |
Boris
Boris is a 15 year old stud muffin! The cabin Romeo…..everyone loves Boris and Boris loves everyone. A crazy mix of Shar-pei, boxer and Pitt bull, Boris was tied up outside all of his life until he got loose and was picked up at animal control. In dreadful condition when they found him, this mild mannered gentleman was extremely sweet from the get go, and was just grateful to just be inside in the warm. He was diagnosed with testicular cancer 15 months ago, along with a hefty heart murmur and came to us as a hospice care case, yet still this old boy keeps doing his thing and making life sweet at the cabin every day regardless. Boris is a little unsteady on his feet at times, and his gait can be awkward, however he is very cuddly and adores to be petted. |
